Better vision, brighter future

Due to family financial constraints, many children in Taiwan are unable to have their vision corrected. Understanding the importance of vision care, BenQ Materials, together with its Miacare brand, launched the Vision HOPE Project in 2014 to provide free eyeglasses to underprivileged children. To date, nearly 1,800 kids have been helped to regain a clear vision for a brighter future.

The Project is a joint effort between BenQ Materials/Miacare, the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families, and Kobayashi Optical. It offers free eyeglasses to economically disadvantaged children in need of vision correction by providing them with the right prescription to avoid worsening problems.

As an expert in silicone hydrogel contact lenses, Miacare recognizes the importance of wearing comfortable lenses and has expanded the program to provide free products to high school athletes so they can compete with confidence.

Over the years that the Vision HOPE Project has been running, the beneficiaries have sent many thank-you cards, each hand-written with a touching story. Some students who love playing baseball continue to tape damaged glasses together because they cannot afford new ones. As a result, they struggle to see the blackboard in class and have to sacrifice recess time to write down notes borrowed from classmates. With the help of corrected vision through the Vision HOPE Project, these kids no longer have to miss out on a carefree student life.

Starting in 2022, the Project expanded its reach to include several kindergartens and adoption agencies. Going forward, BenQ Materials will continue supporting families through the Vision HOPE Project, helping children to overcome their vision problems and achieve a happy childhood.
